Welcome! Welcome to the first season of youth football for Canton and surrounding communities.  This is an exciting year for Canton and our organization.  Not only do we now have 5 home games for the High School team, but we will have a number of home and regional games for boys and girls ages 7-14.

The Canton Youth League is open to girls and boys ages 7-14.  Each team is defined by age and weight with safety and fairness as our fundamental concern.

Our goal is to teach fundamental skills of teamwork, and dedication to our boys and girls.  This league is not about winning at all costs, it is about fairness, sportsmanship, FULL PARTICIPATION, and above all safety.  How do we provide full participation?  We require that each player have a minimum number of plays per game.  We want our kids to get more playing time than the minimum so we require that the minimum requirements be reached prior to the start of the fourth quarter.  If this is not reached, that player will play for the entire fourth quarter of the game.

In addition to our football program, Canton will be introducing a cheer program. In this program our girls and boys will be grounded in the fundamentals of cheerleading and teamwork.  The cheer program will be coordinated by Sheralyn Marsh who cheered in college with BU and bring a great knowledge of the sport to our cheerleaders.  Like our football program, the cheer program is about fairness, sportsmanship, FULL PARTICIPATION, and above all safety.

What will it cost?  The registration costs are $250 per football player and $100 per cheerleader.  With this fee your child will receive a complete set of shoulder pads, rib protectors, thigh and knee pads, hip pads, mouth guard, chin guard, helmet, game uniform (home and away), girdle, and practice pants.  Comprehensive insurance is provides by the league at no additional cost.

Where do we play?
Canton will play a series of home and away games throughout the Farmington Valley.  Away games will be no more than 1hr from Canton.  Home games are anticipated to be played in Canton.

Where and when do we practice?
Beginning in the end of July Canton will begin our summer conditioning session.  Practice will run Monday through Thursday with emphasis on getting the kids in shape and grounded in proper footwork and additional techniques.  Pads will not be distributed until kids have had a minimum of ten hours conditioning.  During the school year practice will be held on Tuesday and Thursday with games on Saturday of Sunday depending on the age of the child.  All practices will be held from 5:30 to 8:00.
